چکیده

The subcomponents of the cervical evoked response, N11, N13, N14, and the following positivity, were studied in 13 patients with full arrest of the intracerebral circulation, isoelectric EEGs and abolished cortical somatosensory evoked responses. The peak negativity (N13) and the following positive wave were present in all patients. Also N11 and N14 could be identified in most patients either at standard stimulation frequency (2 Hz) or by increasing the stimulation rate. The results point to a spinal origin of these sub-components in the human cervical evoked response.

Cervical and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials in multiple sclerosis participants

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic neurological disease that affects brain and spinal cord. The infratentorial region contains the cerebellum and brainstem. Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs) are short-latency myogenic responses. Cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potential (cVEMP) is a manifestation of vestibulocolic reflex and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic pote...

Deep hypothermic circulatory arrest: I. Effects of cooling on electroencephalogram and evoked potentials.

BACKGROUND Deep hypothermia is an important cerebral protectant and is critical in procedures requiring circulatory arrest. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the neurophysiologic changes during cooling before circulatory arrest, in particular the occurrence of electrocerebral silence. METHODS In 109 patients undergoing hypothermic circulatory arrest with ne...

Effect of temperature and cardiopulmonary bypass on the auditory evoked response.

We have recorded auditory evoked potentials before and during cardiopulmonary bypass in 10 adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery under moderate hypothermia to 27-28 degrees C. The immediate effect of bypass was a small decrease in latency and increase in amplitude of the early cortical response. We also studied two adults and two children during profound hypothermia with circulatory arrest ...

Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials in patients with rheumatoid arthritis

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune systemic disease. Most common autoimmune diseases are multisystem disorders that may also present with otological manifestations, and autoimmune inner ear disease accompanied by vestibular dysfunction. This study aimed to compare the vestibular function between RA patients and normal subjects using cervical vestibular evoked myogenic...

A New Minimum Order Lumped-Parameter Model of Circulatory System for Patients with Suffered Left and Right-Sided Heart Failure

In this study a new minimum lumped electrical model of total circulatory system through numerical solutions to approximate the response of the human circulatory system was presented. Among five existent ventricular elastances as activity function of heart pumps, a more accurate model was chosen as well as the operation of baroreflex system to accommodate variations in heart rate and systemic va...
